Axopar 22 Review: From Axopar 22 to 29

A Boating Evolution

Raina, a proud Axopar owner, shares her Axopar 22 review and why she and her husband, Stephen’s love for this boat has led them to a new adventure into the Axopar 29. Raina and Stephen live on the water in Pittwater, and own the very first Axopar 22 brought into Australia. Having enjoyed countless memorable outings on their boat over the last few years, here’s some of the highlights they have experienced on their Axopar 22 and what ultimately led them to the decision to upgrade.

Why they love their Axopar 22?

Raina and Stephen were initially intrigued by the Axopar 22, but it was their unforgettable first test drive that confirmed it was the perfect boat for them. “We went out on Sydney Harbour on the worst possible day—stormy weather and terrible conditions. We came back looking like drowned rats but smiling,” Raina shared. Despite the rough weather, the fun and thrill of driving the Axopar 22 sealed the deal.

Living on Pittwater, they were searching for a boat that was easy to use for quick trips around the bays and versatile enough to take friends aboard. After owning a 35-foot yacht that felt like too much to handle, the Axopar 22 was the perfect fit for their lifestyle.

Stephen adds to the Axopar 22 review explaining it is, “incredibly easy to drive and maneuver, the boat’s stepped hull means it’s also very stable at a variety of speeds and conditions. We’ve had a few magic days on Pittwater, and the shade provided by the T-Top has been much greater than anticipated. The clean-up after a big day out on the water is extremely simple, and the fuel efficiency is mind-blowing compared to our last boat.”

Highlights Aboard the Axopar 22

Raina describes the Axopar 22 as the ideal boat for short trips and fun on the water. Here are some standout moments:

  • Daily adventures: The boat’s simplicity and versatility make it ideal for impromptu outings, whether to relax, watch the day go by, or enjoy quality time with friends and family. “We love being able to take it out to local bays like The Basin or Refuge Bay on a quiet weekday,” Raina said. “Stephen even uses it as a remote office sometimes.”
  • Special outings: One magical day involved picking up friends in Ettalong, crossing a low bar with ease, and cruising to Cottage Point Kiosk on the Hawkesbury. “On the way back at sunset, we had dolphins on the bow. It was magical.”

A Weekend That Changed It All

Day 1 – The Eyachts Owners Event

Raina described the event as one of her favourite boating memories. “The convoy was absolutely thrilling! Seeing all the boats together and navigating through the wake from the bigger boats made it an adrenaline rush. It was one of the most exciting and crazy experiences I’ve had with our Axopar 22,” she said. “We had the best time, and the event was so well-organized. We even made friends with other owners—we’ll be catching up with them for a party soon.”

Night 1 – A Secluded Retreat

After the event, they stayed at Murra Murra House, a private Airbnb accessible only by shallow-draft boats just 5 minutes from Peats Bite. With stunning views of a national park and oyster farms, it was the perfect retreat.

Day 2 – A Slow Morning and Phenomenal Lunch

The following morning, they cruised to Berowra Waters Inn, enjoying the stillness and wildlife of the early morning along the way. “It felt like we had the place to ourselves,” Raina recalled, unable to put into words how magical the experience was. This was followed one one of the most phenomenal lunches, featuring native and local ingredients, which made them feel connected to the location.

Day 3 – Testing the Axopar 29

On their way back, they were invited to test the Axopar 29 Sun Top and decided that this 29 footer is just right for them.

Why Upgrade to the Axopar 29?

After the weekend, Raina and Stephen knew it was time to take the next step.

“The 22 was amazing, but we wanted something that gave us more confidence for offshore adventures,” Raina explained. “The 29 Sun Top offered everything we loved about the 22 but with more comfort, space, and protection from the elements.”

The standout features of the 29 for them include:

  • U-shaped seating: Perfect for entertaining.
  • Comfortable bow seating: Great for relaxing and taking in the views.
  • Stability and performance: A faster, more stable ride for extended trips.
  • Storage and protection: Ideal for exploring beyond Pittwater into the Hawkesbury and beyond.

Summarising their experience with the Eyachts and Vesseltec team, Stephen and Raina stated, “Eyachts and VesselTec have been a pleasure to deal with. The test drive was informative and enjoyable, and the team have been very professional throughout the buying and service process. Meeting the team at the owners event was also great.”

– Stephen and Raina

As they look forward to more adventures aboard their new Axopar 29 Sun Top, Raina and Stephen reflect on their journey with gratitude. “We love the agile and fun performance of the Axopar 22 and have even considered keeping both,” but ultimately “The 22 will always have a special place in our hearts, but we’re so excited for what’s next.” Their Axopar 22 review is a testament to the Axopar lifestyle: a perfect blend of adventure, community, and the freedom to explore.

Does Hybrid Work? Greenline Hybrid Owner Testimonial

“The hybrid system worked well. The solar panel set up is huge and catered for everything we needed and for the 7 years we owned the boat we never felt the need for a generator. We always appreciated the backup from Eyachts and we have purchased other boats from them since then and experienced the same support.” – Jon Fleming, Greenline 40 Owner.
